In Search of Light: Histories

ISOL_1.png

In Search of Light: Histories is a 3D animation, installation and music composition project that stages a series of symbolic scenes depicting human figures in pursuit of a light source. Inspired by the visual and narrative structures of baroque and medieval painting, the compositions are arranged as digital tableaux, frozen moments of devotion, struggle, and transcendence.

Rendered in baroque detail, the figures are caught in gestures of reaching, falling, crawling, and gazing upward toward distant orbs of light. Their movements evoke the spiritual yearning and emotional intensity found baroque paintings, reimagined through the lens of contemporary digital aesthetics.

The first iteration of In Search of Light was presented as a solo exhibition for ArtFields in South Carolina at Trax Visual Arts Center. This immersive installation brought together multiple media: animated scenes viewed through VR lenses, large-scale projection mapping, fine art prints, volumetric laser light sculptures, and a custom-composed soundscape. Together, these elements expanded the narrative beyond the screen, transforming the space into a contemplative environment where digital technology and ancient symbolism converged in an open-ended search for transcendence.
